Patriarchy (2016)

The Patriarchy theme, utilizing the woven material of Mennonite bonnets, is used to embody a social system where men hold the power. Bonnets trapped in mason jars like butterflies, and bonnets suspended upside down at a height suggest women who are not grounded, who may also be confined under a glass ceiling. The Bonnet prints done on delicate Korean mulberry paper suggest the unseen inner woman.
